Today, around 2.2 billion people worldwide do not have regular access to clean water. For around 785 million people, not even the basic supply of drinking water is guaranteed. At the same time, water pollution by microplastics and other trace substances, such as the leaching of fibres from synthetic textiles, the use of plastic particles in cosmetics, household cleaners and fertilisers etc., is increasing. Wastewater treatment plants are currently unable to completely remove microplastics from wastewater. Therefore, the German company has made it a top priority to maintain and continuously improve water quality. As freshwater resources become increasingly scarce, the company also focuses on saving water and reducing waste. With the novel and patent-pending separation technology based on additive-induced physical-chemical processes, it is possible to ensure the reliable separation and removal of microplastics without the need for costly filter technology. This process has already been tried and tested several times in practice. The technology comprises a three-stage process: 1. Localisation Through the innovative combination of agitation and aeration, all microplastic particles in the water are brought together in one place. 2. Dosage Silica gel is added to the water in precise amounts and at the right time. 3. Separation The centimetre-sized agglomerates can be completely removed from the treated water without leaving any residue. Municipal sewage treatment plants can be retrofitted with a scalable fourth treatment stage at low acquisition and operating costs.
