An Italian SME has developed and commercializes in Italy supplements based on a patented avocado’s extract, to support female fertility and to help women in conception and in maternity. The company was born from the intuition of the founder (who has 15 years of sales’ experience in in the Pharmaceutical sector) about the precious properties of some special food, in particular, of avocado. An innovative product has been created and patented, inspired by the growing demand of natural origin products to supplement the diet. The concept of the products line is based on scientific research, showing the correlation between Monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) consumption and the proper physiology of the female reproductive system. Many studies have shown that a diet based on regular consumption of fruits and vegetables, rich in antioxidants, fibers, Omega-3, whole grains and MUFA from vegetable oils, can increase fertility rates, reducing the risk of obesity, hypertension, insulin resistance and diabetes. It also reduces of about 70 % the risk of ovulatory problems. Moreover a specific study, of the Harvard School of Public Health (USA) on woman undergoing fertilisation pathways, showed that an increased consumption of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) is able to triple the successful rate of couples’ in vitro fertilisations. Researchers concluded that the best foods to increase “female fertility” are avocado and olive oil. Starting from this scientific evidence, the founder, supported by a team of research experts, developed an exclusive bio-fermentation process, obtained by the extraction of fresh avocado pulp, optimised to ensure the highest quality standards and the maintenance of the active ingredient naturally contained in the ripe fruit. The products have been formulates in collaboration with the Global Fertility & Genetics clinic of NYC, USA, in order to create a line of safe and effective products. The whole process is strictly monitored starting from the raw material, the avocado’s cultivation in Sicily, managed by a cooperative of local growers). The company is in charge of the marketing of the products in Central Italy and it created a network of agents for the rest of the country. The products are sold exclusively in pharmacies or drug stores. Sales are supported by a scrupulous communication strategy and in particular a strong investment in digital communication through different social media channels and collaborations with influencers and mummy’s blogs. The product line at the moment consists of two different formulations: - A TABLET FORMULATION with a lower active substance’s rate, combining fermented avocado extracts and micronutrients, proposed as a daily supplement contributing to the natural female fertility, hormonal activity regulation and the general and physiological well-being. - A SACHET FORMULATION with higher active substance’s rate, combining fermented avocado extracts and micronutrients, proposed as an intensive supplement for woman looking for pregnancy. Further projects for the line extension are under evaluation. Commercialization in Italy started in November 2020 but results are really satisfactory with 900/pieces per month just after 6 months. The company is now looking for expanding its business abroad and it is available to different possible collaborations: Distribution agreement: Distributors of supplements that already count on a well-structured brand identity, communication packet both for doctors, pharmacy, and patients. License Agreement: Pharma or supplements companies interested in licensing out the patented fermented avocado formula. Manufacturing Agreement: Companies commercialising integrators that wants to expend their products portfolio. The proposing partner on gynaecology related area that has already its link with pharmaceutical informants and gynaecologists will be an added value that will be considered.
