Flexible pouches were never used in the past to hold mineral water since they did not provide for adequate solutions (there should be no odour and no change in taste at least for a year etc.). Mineral water was always packed in bottles. Israeli’s largest manufacturer of flexible packaging material is providing a new packaging alternative for the mineral water industry. Use of special materials and technology enables the flexible pouch to preserve the taste and odour of mineral water to possess the required shelf life. Generally, flexible packages have undoubted advantages as: 1) minimal space needed for storage of empty capacities, 2) volume of wastes being much lower than that for bottles, 3) due to the layered structure of the pouches, the quantity of material in use being several times lower, 4) all these making the technology environmentally friendly. Such stand-up pouches are manufactured in-house with the use of most advanced pouch making machines. They are used for packing a variety of products (powders, grains, mixtures, liquids, hot fills), but now for the first time flexible packaging is offered for mineral water.
