In a wireless communication environment, if a direction-finding device can know the positions of mobile terminals, the repeater/transmitter may direct a beam toward the terminal, thereby maintaining a stable wireless network and improving efficiency of data transmission. If the microwave signal transmitting and receiving function is implemented by the directional antenna, and the algorithm for analysing the signal intensity and phase from the mobile terminals is applied to the direction-finding system, the device can find the direction of the mobile terminal. Using this technique, it is possible to increase data transmission efficiency on the wireless network by forming beams in the direction of mobile terminals.
A Korean SME specialized in design and manufacturing of antenna and digital signal processing technology has currently implemented the transmitting / receiving function of microwave signals using a directional antenna, and the feasibility of the system has been confirmed by developing a signal analysis algorithm.
This company is proposing joint development of technology and device for ‘Direction-finding of mobile terminals using multiple directional antennas and signal processing’ under the research cooperation agreement. As Korean company has expertise in antenna and direction-finding device (hardware), the role for sought European partner is development of transmission / reception signal analysis algorithm for the device.
