This is a Croatian family-run company established in the heart of Dalmatia, in one of the oldest towns on the eastern Adriatic coast. They mainly produce hand-harvested, unrefined, organic sea salt. Over the years, they have extended their product portfolio which now incorporates over 220 different sea salt products including flower of salt, spiced salt, aromatherapy cosmetics, delicacies (like chocolate, cookies, olive oil), souvenirs and gift packages. They also offer wholesale products like table salt, food industry salt, road salt, swimming pool salt, cosmetic industry salt. The method of sea salt production is traditional and environmentally responsible. The sea water is naturally air and sun dried in salt fields. The salt fields consist of salt pans which are filled with seawater in the spring. Natural evaporation produces brine from which the salt crystallizes. The entire harvesting process is done the traditional way by hand with wooden tools. The salts are untreated, unprocessed and as such rich in natural minerals. The saltwork is present in this location for over 1500 years – it dates back to Roman times. The location of the salt ponds is contributing to the quality of salt as the area is rich with diverse wildlife, plenty of beaches and healing mud. There is no heavy industry or extensive agriculture in the wider area and the salt fields are located among the five Croatian national parks which additionally testifies about the cleanliness and integrity of its natural surroundings.
