In cardiopulmonary ressuscitation (CPR), the real problem is to deliver the right ventilation according to the corpulence and the capacities of the patient. Ventilating too much or not enough can have real dramatic impacts on the patient's health. It's also crucial to intervene correctly and very early.
To solve this problem, a French start-up has developed and patented an assisting device enabling the first aiders to be helped in this critical ventilation phase. The system interprets the variable and provides the first aiders a direct and visual feedback on the quality of this ventilation.
This easy-to-use device makes the ventilation possible in perfect compliance with the international recommendations.
The technology has been tested with emergency, anesthetists and paramedics including the French Red Cross and the Pars Fire Brigade and shows more than encouraging results. The performance of the ventilation increases from 15 % to 90 %.
The system is composed of a single use part (the mass flowsensor) and a reusable part (the Electronic Control Unit).
It provides the following functionalities :
- selection of the patient profile (size, type of CPR),
- ventilation parameters measurements : tidal volumes frequency,
leakage,
- indication of target values according to patient profile,
- real time feedback on ventilation efficiency,
- data recording.
The French start-up has been largely awarded in France and has begun to organise its distribution network in some European countries. The company is seeking now distributors in Germany and Spain.
Advantages & innovations
- Artificial intelligence at the service of rescue of the human body,
- visual feedback of the quality of the manual ventilation in CPR (cardiopulmonary ressuscitation),
- easy-to-use device
- compatibility of the device with all ventilation balloons.
