Houses, commercial operations and business buildings are normally connected to the electricity network with three phases. The failure of one of the phases is a state where the supply of electricity is not interrupted in the network, electricity enters the building, but not all phases are functional. Several appliances stop working, but if other appliances continue to receive electricity from the active phase, the user of the building may not detect the fault for a long time. This can cause serious damage to values, equipment, materials or goods that are damaged by the failure of appliances, e.g. failure of refrigeration equipment, air conditioning, ventilation or heating units, safety systems, three-phase motors, etc.
This problem does not only apply to houses in remote areas, but the introduction of sophisticated iHouse systems or increasing support for alternative energies cause a growing number of end-users in risks at both ends of the spectrum - households and commercial sector. Even if there are not any statistical data, it is obvious that houses neither most of commercial objects do not have source of backup power that is ready to automatically take over should the main power grid fail. Renovation, respectively reconstruction of infrastructure in the buildings is not adequate comparing the expected investment's costs.
Power supply is realized by a three-phase supply (400V) from the grid. In an event when a failure of only one phase occurs, our new technology solution in form of device after a set time automatically switches to a functional phase. If it comes to outage on all three phases the device automatically connects lead battery to voltage converter that provides power for the appliances for some time depending on the capacity of lead-acid battery and the power that the appliances have. After the event and after a specified time the phases are being scanned, and if there is voltage even just on one phase, the unit automatically switches to the functional phase. In a trouble-free mode, the device monitors the voltage in the lead battery and when the battery is empty the device automatically recharges the battery through a charger. The technology was developed at Slovak university in Nitra region which acts in the field of agriculture.
The institute is looking for partners to cooperate with via license agreement or via commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Advantages & innovations
Competitive advantages
• Keeps the electric appliance in operation even in the event of a phase failure - automatically switches to a different phase (it is necessary that the object is connected to three phases, respectively the device was fed with three phase cable).
• Fully automatic operation of the visual with LED indication if the engagement is actuated (visual message of disconnection of the phase).
• Increasing the operational safety of electrical appliances of key importance, such as solid fuel boilers, refrigeration, air conditioning, security forces with the fact that there is no risk of their failure, thus protecting the contents appliances (food, climate, security).
• The production is from commonly available components - no special features.
• In one package there is control of the inverter and charger to maintain maximum battery life - connection can be used alone, if it is connected to an active conductor, or its own battery.
• The possibility of write failures and register them in memory - to check and as a proof in procedure for complaints stability of electricity supply, respectively the quality of installation with the objective distribution mains
• Connection to smart installation - with their characteristics, the connection is destined for use in installations requiring high stability of electricity supply.
• Remote controlling of the device through smart house.
• Galvanic isolated from network - connection is autonomous and thus not depend on the possible phase failure
• The option to connect to the control cabinet - size of the connection can be standardized based on current forms of conventional circuit breakers and install it directly in the control cabinet in the buildings.
• The possibility of SMS notifications.
