Improving the safety and economic efficiency of lifting equipment and, in particular, tower cranes remains an important task in the modern world.
Ukrainian University has developed a control system for tower cranes, which reduces the level of their energy consumption and brings their work in line with modern safety standards.
The system uses installed programmable energy-saving drives, equipped with the necessary sensors with the ability to work in "blind" areas and provides a reduction in the installed power of tower crane motors and optimal control.
The proposed system uses the patterns of changes in the dynamic and energy characteristics of the operation of an asynchronous motor in all parts of the operating cycle: acceleration, uniform motion, and deceleration. The trajectory of motion and kinematic characteristics can be calculated using methods of the theory of optimal control.
The system can be used in construction, crane building, mechanical engineering, industry in industrial control systems.
The university is interested in introducing the system outside of Ukraine and is looking for owners of operating tower cranes, as well as manufacturers of lifting equipment who are interested in improving the efficiency of their equipment. The desired form of cooperation is a commercial agency agreement with technical assistance.
Advantages & innovations
- reduction of energy consumption and reduction of the installed power of the motors of movement and turning mechanisms;
- increasing the reliability of the crane and reducing downtime, the downtime as a rule entails significant losses due to the disruption of logistic chains, for example, at a construction site;
- the ability to work in blind zones or from another room, for example, when reloading dangerous goods - explosive objects, poisonous substances, nuclear fuel at nuclear power plants, etc.- - increasing the safety of work;
- increasing the ergonomics and reducing the fatigue of the crane operator, which can lead to an increase in the productivity of the crane in conditions of a shortage of crane time at the construction site.
