Summary
Italian SME offers an innovative GNSS end-to-end system for the continuous monitoring of critical infrastructure (e.g. dams, bridges, roads), structures (e.g. buildings) and natural hazards (e.g. landslides). The system includes hardware, software and technical support. It is based on custom price-competitive GNSS equipment, designed with an IoT approach. The company is looking for partnerships under a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description
The proposed system is an innovative end-to-end service for the continuous monitoring of critical infrastructure and natural hazards. The sensing infrastructure is based on mass-market hardware technology consisting of cost-effective GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) antennas and receivers.
The proposed solution provides 3D displacement measurements of points on the infrastructure (e.g. a dam, a bridge, etc.), or on the area subjected to natural hazards (e.g. a landslide), with precision of few millimeters in near real-time (e.g. 1-2 millimeters for hourly solutions), or of the order of 1 millimeter or less for daily solutions (in a situation of unobstructed sky visibility from the GNSS antenna).
The system relies on mathematical methods and state-of-the-art software specifically developed for the purpose, allowing to reach a high level of precision using cost-effective GNSS technology and to implement customized solutions for each specific application.
The system is useful to better monitor the structure health status, to take decisions on time preventing structural failures, to optimize maintenance operations and to evaluate the impacts of natural events like landslides, earthquakes, and failures that can affect the structure stability. Users can set customized thresholds on the displacements to notify dangerous situations by e-mail, instant messaging platforms, or SMS.
Moreover, the solution has been designed to guarantee high versatility: it is capable to integrate and manage other sensing instruments, which are useful to have a more complete overview of the current status of the structure or natural risk to be monitored (e.g. thermometers, clinometers, etc).
Both hardware and software are specifically designed and developed by the proposing entity, who thus maintains a full control over its characteristics and upgrades.
The company is looking for partnerships under a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
