The goal of the proposed project is to improve stroke care quality, especially in Europe, remove disparities in access to evidence-based stroke treatment and to demonstrate the proposed solution can be applicable in other health care areas. The international clinical research centre from the Czech Republic has developed a global registry in stroke care quality, which is used in 1500 hospitals in 72 countries worldwide. This registry measures quality and performance in stroke care and provides feedback including national and international benchmark, which is used for stroke care improvement. The whole improvement programme using the registry has been implemented with support of the European and World Stroke Organisations.
The consortium of several universities, stroke hospitals and private companies is preparing a project proposal to Horizon Europe Health call HORIZON-HLTH-2021-TOOL-06-03 Innovative tools for use and re-use of health data (in particular of electronic health records and/or patient registries) aiming at development of new tools for use and re-use of health data.
The coordinator is looking for a complementary SME or potentially large enterprise to develop AI virtual assistants for making more understandable and customised feedback data reports. The AI could be used also for mobile application for patients monitoring their outcome after stroke.
The deadline of the call is September 21, 2021. The project is planned for 4 years (approx. 6/2022 - 5/2026) and will apply for 8 mil Euro.
Advantages & innovations
The project proposal is based on a global stroke care quality registry developed by the international clinical research centre from the Czech Republic. This platform already re-uses medical data in more than 1500 hospitals in 72 countries around the world primarily to improve health care and secondarily support research. It has been already proven in some countries that the platform improves health care for one of the deadliest and most prevalent diseases which is a stroke. The aim is to turn this extremely successful academic initiative into a product that will be powered with cutting edge and innovative functionalities and will open pathways for entrepreneurship. The current consortium is building on a long-term cooperation of stroke hospitals and universities in stroke research and stroke care improvement.
